In Loving Memory – Brigadier General Douglas D. Bradley M.D

Douglas Bradley – Graduation from Medical School in 1957

Brigadier General Douglas D. Bradley M.D.
January 3, 1932-September 7, 2022

Brigadier General Douglas D. Bradley M.D., husband of Barbara, father of Karin, Kristin, and Sandra, and grandfather of Madeleine and Lauren passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2022 doing what he loved, spending a glorious sunny afternoon in his boat on Crystal Lake in Frankfort, Michigan.

Doug was so accomplished in many ways yet few would know it because of how humble he was. In everything he did, he reached the pinnacle of success whether it was in leadership roles as an internal medicine physician with Kaiser Permanente in California, serving as Board Chair of the Kaiperm Credit Union, or achieving high honors and status of Brigadier General in the military.

Even with all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family and especially his granddaughters. He never failed to be keenly interested in what they were doing and loved to hear family news of the day and to share what he was doing. He was a great listener. And a great talker. His family loved to listen to his stories from his childhood and about his views on politics, history, and world news.

He also never missed an opportunity to spend time with family, whether for a weekend on the coast or for something as simple as a conversation over coffee or waffle cone with butter pecan ice cream from the local ice cream shop.

He was writing his memoirs even recently and, in his words, he said “In my experiences throughout my life I believe, by natural instinct, that it was a good idea to take each day at a time, work hard at things that were of interest to me, and to be kind and understanding to my contacts with others.” He truly embodied those ideals and taught through example by living with integrity every day.

He inspired so many with the way he role modeled kindness, hard work, service, integrity, and humility to all around him. His wisdom, wit, and smile that would light up every room he was in will be greatly missed.

Doug was laid to rest in Crystal Lake Township Cemetery North on September 13. Read his obituary to learn more.

Condolences can be sent to Barbara at P.O. Box 784, Diablo, CA 94528.
